Sunday 24 November, 10:30-12:15
Join us for a very special morning, including brunch, looking at the history, symbolism and design of our Beit Tefillah’s beautiful windows.
We are delighted to welcome artist Ardyn Halter, who designed and created the ‘Time’ windows at the back of the Beit Tefillah. Ardyn is the son of Roman Halter z”l who designed and created the windows at the sides of the Beit Tefillah on the theme of Chai (Life).
Ardyn will speak about the design and creation of our windows, and about his father’s work. We will also look together at some of the symbolism placed within the designs.
The morning will end with the launch of a community project celebrating the windows and the art of Alyth. This will include the opportunity for members to write and reflect on the windows, and a series of events over  the coming months about our art and those who created it.
In order that we know how much food to buy, please email saskia@alyth.org.uk to let us know you are coming.

We wish a hearty Mazal Tov to those we honour this Simchat Torah: our Chatan Torah, Robert Weiner, and our Chatanim and Kallot B’reishit, the volunteers of the Alyth Senior Club.

And in parallel, ‘Sweet as Honey’
(10:30 - 11:15ish) A celebration of all things bees and honey, including special guest Ave Vieira and his fuzzy buzzy friends.  We will be learning about the life and importance of bees, and the threat to their future and ours, and tasting honeys at our honey bar. Go home with an eco wild-flower seed bomb to plant at home and encourage the bees that we all rely on.  A special morning in honour of the sweetness of Torah (*and, yes, we do know that the honey of Ancient Israel was date honey but this is a lot more fun!).

The community will come together for the Hakkafot.

Then after the Hakkafot, a choice of services…
1) For Young Families: Simchat Torah Den. Led by Rabbi Hannah and Chloe.
2) For Older Families: An upbeat, fun, musical service to celebrate the reading of Torah. Led by Mike.

After light refreshments, we will begin our reflective choral service with Rabbi Colin, Student Rabbi Nicola, Viv Bellos and the Alyth Choir at 23:10. You are welcome to join just for the film or to come in time for refreshments and the service.
