Being together as a community Over the next few weeks we will be organising activities where members can gather, support one another and gain insight into life in Israel and Gaza in these troubled times. These activities will include a session with the Bereaved Families Forum (next week - see below for more information), briefings from UK organisations, and from our friends and colleagues in Israel, as well as space to reflect and talk together, supported by Alyth clergy. See December’s ‘Around Alyth’ for more information.

Qussay soon died from the lack of timely treatment. Layla joined the Parents Circle in 2016. Following her son’s death, she never thought of revenge, but rather has devoted her time and energy to ensuring a better, more peaceful future for her children. Robi Damelin’s son, David, was killed by a Palestinian sniper in 2002 while guarding a checkpoint near a settlement during his army reserve service. She speaks to Israelis, Palestinians, and audiences all over the world to demand that reconciliation be a part of any peace agreement. Robi was named a 2015 Woman of Impact by Women in the World.

TALK TOGETHER - last chance to sign up Sunday 26 November 10:30-12:30 Thursday 30 November 19:30-21:30
As we mark the beginning of a new year it is time for us to turn our attention as a community towards the future. 5784 will be a year of celebration, as we open the new building, and also of transition, as we work to build on the strong foundations that have been laid under Rabbi Josh's exceptional leadership. As we enter this period of transition, we have the opportunity to ask ourselves what we value about the community we have built so far, what we hope for the future, and what kind of leadership will support us as we meet the needs of both those who are with us today and those who will come in future generations.
To support this conversation, the Trustees invite you to one of our upcoming 'Talk Together' events on one of the dates below. Each will last for two hours, will be held in person, and will be an opportunity to talk with other members of the community and to share your thoughts, hopes, insights, concerns and aspirations for the future of our community. What we learn together will be really valuable as we begin the process of search and recruitment later in the year. You can sign up online by clicking here . Full details of the venue will be sent to you when you sign up.

CAN YOU HELP? Do you have a 2-bed room flat or similar to let for 8 months?
Rabbi Golan Ben-Chorin will be with us at Alyth from January 2024, during which time he will need accommodation. We are helping him look for a 2-bedroom flat or maisonette to rent for the 8-month period that he is in London. Ideally the property will be located near Alyth, but a little further afield is okay too. Do you have a property to rent or know of someone who does? Please be in touch with Noeleen who is helping to coordinate Rabbi Golan’s arrival in January. Email: noeleen@alyth.org.uk
