SAVE THE DATE Alyth Iftar - Thursday 5 April
In just under four weeks, Alyth will be hosting our 9th annual Iftar. We are so delighted that we are finally able to be together again in person. We cannot wait to open the doors of our synagogue and welcome friends and neighbours to study, pray and eat together.
From 18:15 – 18:30 we will be gathering with new friends and old. The formal programme will begin at 18:30 with an opening ceremony followed by a choice of sessions in which Jewish and Muslim teachers will explore different aspects of our theme in a more intimate environment for learning and discussion.
We will come together for the call to prayer, finishing in time to share our iftar meal. We are delighted that our iftar meal will once again be provided by the extraordinary caterer and founder of the Aleppo Supper Club, Ahmad, whose food we enjoyed last time we were able to be together.
This year we are also excited to be promoting Thank You Day (www.thankyouday.org.uk). Thank You Day is a day where people are encouraged to rediscover their community spirit through acts of gratitude shown towards volunteers, neighbours and friends. The organisers of Thank You Day are encouraging us all to create moments for faith communities to meet, eat and come together. Our Iftar will be used to showcase what is possible when faith communities come together. In keeping with this connection, this year our Jewish and Muslim teachers will be looking at the theme of gratitude. You will have a choice of different sessions relating to this theme.
If you would like to join us, please sign up by clicking here.
