SIMCHAT TORAH 5782/2021 Monday 27 September - Erev Simchat Torah
The Great Alyth Simchat Torah Line Dance (Choice of two sessions: 18:00-19:00 or 19:30-20:30) Simchat Torah is our time to dance together. And this year, we can! Of course, it still needs to look a little different... we will be dancing outside on the synagogue forecourt (the joy of Simchat Torah needs to be shared with as many people as possible, not only with those who feel able to be inside) and we will be dancing in a different shape - not in circles, but in lines! Each session will begin with a mini-ma'ariv before we dance together. Cowboy boots are optional. Depending on numbers, we will be running two sessions - the first beginning at 18:00 and the second at 19:30. Alcohol will be served during the second session only. If arrangements change due to numbers pre-booked or to the weather, this will be posted on the front page of the synagogue website by 12:00 on Monday 27 September. At 18:00 click here to join online (Meeting ID: 817 2702 4125, Passcode: 785089) At 19:30 click here to join online (Meeting ID: 813 1242 7923, Passcode: 785089)
Tuesday 28 September - Simchat Torah Simchat Torah Morning Services (from 10:00) The choice of two Shacharit services to begin the morning: 10:00 A more formal Shacharit service, including full Hallel and Yizkor. Led by Rabbi Josh and Rabbi Hannah in the outdoor prayer space. This service can also be joined on Zoom. Click here to join (Meeting ID: 880 1154 6562, Passcode: 785089). 10:15 An informal service, appropriate for younger members of all ages, with a kids' corner. Led by Cantor Tamara, Rabbi Elliott and the Youth and Education team in the Leo Baeck Hall. This service can also be joined on Zoom. Click here to join (Meeting ID: 811 4302 9597, Passcode: 649146).
The two services will join together at 11:00 for (line) dancing in the forecourt. Followed by a Torah service including the reading of the end of Deuteronomy and the beginning of Genesis. The Torah reading will take place in the Beit Tefillah, which will be opening for a service for the first time since the summer. Those who wish will be able to view the Torah reading on the big screen in the outdoor prayer space.
This year our clergy will once again be reading the beginning and end of Torah. We look forward to being able to nominate a Chatan and Kallah once again in 5783, when they will be able to celebrate all together with their family, friends and community.

Financial Support - How we can help
We believe that everybody who wishes should feel able to be a member of Alyth irrespective of ability to pay. In these difficult times, please do not leave the shul for financial reasons. If you are facing financial challenges, do not hesitate to contact us.
As well as discussing the level of your annual synagogue contribution, we can help you to access a number of Alyth funds that are specifically here to help our members in times of challenge. Please contact Lynette at lynette@alyth.org.uk or Rabbi Josh at josh@alyth.org.uk
If you feel able to support other Alyth members in financial difficulty at this time, please email Rabbi Josh at josh@alyth.org.uk
Please remember that we also have two special numbers in addition to the main synagogue number: Alyth Careline – 020 8457 8798 This will be answered by a member of the Alyth professional team between 08:00 and 21:00. Emergency Careline – 07726 631808 Please use this number if you need urgent pastoral support, for example in cases of hospitalization or bereavement. This number will be answered by a member of the Alyth professional team.
