SECURITY & STEWARDING Whilst our rolling programme of in-person services will look slightly different to a “normal” year, we will still require volunteer security and stewards to keep us safe and to help us find the services. In the coming weeks you will receive emails with a security or stewarding shift. If you are comfortable fulfilling this shift please do accept it. If you do not receive an email but are happy to volunteer at some point over the HHDs, please email adam@alyth.org.uk. Thank you.
MACHZORIM COLLECTION There are two ways to access the Prayer Books. All of the liturgy will be available online, via the Reform Movement website. However, for the quality of the experience, we strongly recommend the use of physical copies and will have these available to borrow from the synagogue.
On Rosh Hashanah we will be using the Draft Rosh Hashanah Machzor and on Yom Kippur we will be using the ‘old’ Days of Awe Machzor.
If you are attending the in-person shabbat services on Friday 27/Saturday 28 August and Friday 3/Saturday 4 September you will be able to collect a machzor whilst at Alyth.
There will also be the opportunity to collect machzorim throughout the day on Thursday 2 September between 10:00-17:00 and Sunday 5 September between 10:00-12:00.
Full details, including how to book in to the in-person services, will be with you in next week.
In the meantime please save the dates:

LEARN WITH US ONLINE Elul Half Hour (17:30 - 18:00) Ben Azzai who ‘looked and died’ - Encountering mortality. Elul Half Hours are short sessions of reflection, study and contemplation before Shabbat services in Elul. This year, they will run in the second half of the month of Elul. You are welcome to attend all four sessions, or to come to those which interest you. Our starting point for this year’s Elul Half Hours is a rabbinic story - the tale of four sages who enter ‘Pardes’. We do not know exactly what this transformative journey entailed, but we are told the different impact that it had on each of them - one died, another was harmed, the third rebelled, and one found peace. We will take the experience of each of these Sages to explore how we may have experienced the challenges of the last 16 months: the encounter with mortality; the impact on our mental wellbeing; the experience of religious doubt; the possibility of finding peace. This week with Rabbi Josh. Click here to join (Meeting ID: 814 3814 2728, Passcode: 083722).

Financial Support - How we can help
We believe that everybody who wishes should feel able to be a member of Alyth irrespective of ability to pay. In these difficult times, please do not leave the shul for financial reasons. If you are facing financial challenges, do not hesitate to contact us.
As well as discussing the level of your annual synagogue contribution, we can help you to access a number of Alyth funds that are specifically here to help our members in times of challenge. Please contact Lynette at lynette@alyth.org.uk or Rabbi Josh at josh@alyth.org.uk
If you feel able to support other Alyth members in financial difficulty at this time, please email Rabbi Josh at josh@alyth.org.uk
Please remember that we also have two special numbers in addition to the main synagogue number: Alyth Careline – 020 8457 8798 This will be answered by a member of the Alyth professional team between 08:00 and 21:00. Emergency Careline – 07726 631808 Please use this number if you need urgent pastoral support, for example in cases of hospitalization or bereavement. This number will be answered by a member of the Alyth professional team.
