This year’s High Holy Days are more complex than ever before. At this time of uncertainty, some of our members feel ready to return in person, while for others this is still not possible. Our programme this year reflects this diversity of need, with a comprehensive online programme and a rolling programme of in-person services in the marquee at the Sternberg Centre.
Full details, including how to book in to the in-person services, will be with you in the last week in August.
In the meantime please save the dates:
Erev Rosh Hashanah (Monday 6 September) 1st Day Rosh Hashanah (Tuesday 7 September) 2nd Day Rosh Hashanah (Wednesday 8 September) Kol Nidre (Wednesday 15 September) Yom Kippur (Thursday 16 September )
SECURITY & STEWARDING Whilst our rolling programme of in-person services will look slightly different to a “normal” year, we will still require volunteer security and stewards to keep us safe and to help us find the services. In the coming weeks you will receive emails with a security or stewarding shift. If you are comfortable fulfilling this shift please do accept it. If you do not receive an email but are happy to volunteer at some point over the HHDs, please email adam@alyth.org.uk. Thank you.
MACHZORIM COLLECTION There are two ways to access the Prayer Books. All of the liturgy will be available online, via the Reform Movement website. However, for the quality of the experience, we strongly recommend the use of physical copies and will have these available to borrow from the synagogue.
On Rosh Hashanah we will be using the Draft Rosh Hashanah Machzor and on Yom Kippur we will be using the ‘old’ Days of Awe Machzor.
If you are attending the in-person shabbat services on Friday 27/Saturday 28 August and Friday 3/Saturday 4 September you will be able to collect a machzor whilst at Alyth.
There will also be the opportunity to collect machzorim throughout the day on Thursday 2 September between 10:00-17:00 and Sunday 5 September between 10:00-12:00.

Financial Support - How we can help
We believe that everybody who wishes should feel able to be a member of Alyth irrespective of ability to pay. In these difficult times, please do not leave the shul for financial reasons. If you are facing financial challenges, do not hesitate to contact us.
As well as discussing the level of your annual synagogue contribution, we can help you to access a number of Alyth funds that are specifically here to help our members in times of challenge. Please contact Lynette at lynette@alyth.org.uk or Rabbi Josh at josh@alyth.org.uk
If you feel able to support other Alyth members in financial difficulty at this time, please email Rabbi Josh at josh@alyth.org.uk
Please remember that we also have two special numbers in addition to the main synagogue number: Alyth Careline – 020 8457 8798 This will be answered by a member of the Alyth professional team between 08:00 and 21:00. Emergency Careline – 07726 631808 Please use this number if you need urgent pastoral support, for example in cases of hospitalization or bereavement. This number will be answered by a member of the Alyth professional team.
Some of our partner organisations are also running programmes during this period. Click here to see additional programming offered by Reform Judaism that you are invited to join. Click here for activities by other organisations.
