BOARD OF DEPUTIES CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO BE AN ALYTH DEPUTY
The Board of Deputies is the representative body of the UK Jewish Community. Over 200 member organisations are invited by the Board to elect Deputies to represent them. 2021 is the being the beginning of the new triennium. Alyth is entitled to have 5 Deputies to represent our community. We have been lucky enough to have Deputies who have been excellent representatives on the Board and who are willing to stand for re-election in this triennium but not all spaces are filled. Please, consider putting yourself forward to be one of our Deputies. It is an opportunity to play a role in representing the priorities of our community and helping to shape the range of issues that impact on the Jewish Community today. Elections need to take place at a General Meeting of the community. An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will be held at 7:15pm on Monday 24 May 2021 solely for this purpose. Please diarise to attend and elect our deputies. The Board of Deputies, and Alyth, welcome a diverse range of people to stand for election, especially young people, women and those from under-represented groups.
To find out more, please contact our Co-Chairs, Noeleen Cohen and Russell Baum on chair@alyth.org.uk.
We believe that everybody who wishes should feel able to be a member of Alyth irrespective of ability to pay. In these difficult times, please do not leave the shul for financial reasons. If you are facing financial challenges, do not hesitate to contact us.
As well as discussing the level of your annual synagogue contribution, we can help you to access a number of Alyth funds that are specifically here to help our members in times of challenge. Please contact Lynette at lynette@alyth.org.uk or Rabbi Josh at josh@alyth.org.uk
If you feel able to support other Alyth members in financial difficulty at this time, please email Rabbi Josh at josh@alyth.org.uk
Please remember that we also have two special numbers in addition to the main synagogue number: Alyth Careline – 020 8457 8798 This will be answered by a member of the Alyth professional team between 08:00 and 21:00. Emergency Careline – 07726 631808 Please use this number if you need urgent pastoral support, for example in cases of hospitalization or bereavement.
