Alyth’s Online Iftar 2021: ‘Body and Soul’
Tuesday 27 April (Programme: 19:00-20:21)
Those who wish are invited to join welcome groups from 18:45
Join us for Alyth’s eighth annual Iftar.
Once again, we cannot welcome guests into our synagogue, nor can we eat together, but we can still come together as a wider community to learn from one another and to study.
From 18:45 – 19:00, there will be an opportunity for those who wish to begin the evening by meeting new friends and old, in a small breakout room hosted by an Alyth member.  The formal programme will begin at 19:00pm with an opening ceremony followed by a choice of sessions in which Jewish and Muslim teachers will explore different aspects of our theme in a more intimate environment for learning and discussion. 
We will come together for the call to prayer, finishing in time for those who are fasting to eat in their homes off camera.

Chug-a-lug into Shabbat with Cantor Tamara. Sing your favourite Baby Den songs, dance to a shabbat beat and wave to some familiar faces. For families with Young Children.

Alyth Chevruta Project: Pirkei Avot (19:00-20:00)
Chevruta is a classical form of Jewish study, in which two people grapple with the text together. Every following Thursday from 19:00-20:00, Rabbi Josh and Rabbi Elliott host a review session looking at the material, and answering questions coming out of the week of study.

​​​​​​​BOARD OF DEPUTIES 
CALL FOR NOMIINATIONS TO BE AN ALYTH DEPUTY

The Board of Deputies is the representative body of the UK Jewish Community. The Board represents over 200 member organisations who are invited by the Board to elect Deputies to represent them. The elections for Deputies are held every three years with 2021 being the beginning of the new triennium.  
Alyth is entitled to have 5 Deputies to represent our community. We have been lucky enough to have Deputies who have been excellent representatives on the Board and who are willing to stand for re-election in this triennium but not all spaces are filled. Please, consider putting yourself forward to be one of our Deputies. It is an opportunity to play a role in representing the priorities of our community and helping to shape the wider issues that impact on the Jewish Community today.
The Board of Deputies, and Alyth, welcome a diverse range of people to standing for election, especially young people, women and those from under represented groups.

We believe that everybody who wishes should feel able to be a member of Alyth irrespective of ability to pay. In these difficult times, please do not leave the shul for financial reasons. If you are facing financial challenges, do not hesitate to contact us. 

As well as discussing the level of your annual synagogue contribution, we can help you to access a number of Alyth funds that are specifically here to help our members in times of challenge.
