Engaging with our neighbours is central to our Jewish values. As Jews, we cannot be bystanders in the issues that surround us.
The Hippodrome in Golders Green, formerly the Church of El-Shaddai, was bought in July 2017 for use as a centre for Muslim communal activity and prayer. Since then it has been at the centre of an ongoing planning row with Barnet Council, and the focus of a campaign by groups opposed to the establishment of such a centre in Golders Green. This week, after a prolonged planning process, Barnet Council opened a second public consultation on the Markaz’s application.
How do we, as near neighbours respond?
Join us on Tuesday 16 February 2021 from 19:00-20:00 for a special evening open to all places of worship in the local area to find out more about the issues. We will welcome members of the Markaz to learn more about their community and how they use the building, will find out more about the planning issues involved, and will also learn about some of the broader campaigns including the involvement of anti-Muslim organisations from outside the area.
Please register to attend by clicking here. When you register you will receive a Zoom link to the meeting.
